(Re)Share | vol. 3 - Climate optimism and troubles at the border
A weekly curation by Matt Wichrowski
Stuff Worth Sharing
A new (climate) hope: some positive news on the already measurable progress we’ve made on climate from the otherwise alarmist David-Wallace Wells. I highly recommend his book The Uninhabitable Earth, although it’s quite sobering.
Synthesizing returns via DNA: my new friend Shelby recently wrote a great piece on the potential of DNA synthesis and the ways to play as an investor.
SBFNGMI: By far the largest story in my echo chamber this week was the nuclear implosion of FTX. They say you either die a hero or live long enough to become the villain and, well….I’ll let you decide. Like most things in finance, the best summary comes from Matt Levine.
An 18 year layover: the man who spent nearly two decades of his life living in Charles de Gaulle airport died this past weekend. A story you can’t make up.
Shameless Plug
Nothing from me this week. I’m working on few pieces, which I hope to post soon but almost certainly after Thanksgiving. I’ve been thinking a lot about investor psychology lately. In particular the benefits of fund constraints on the mind (e.g. liquidity, reserve ratios). Will be wonky but if you’re into it watch this space.
Tuesday Job Drop
Every week I share cool new job postings from early stage startups I know. Find the jobs board here. Last week I added jobs from Palisade and ImVitro:
🥞 Full Stack Engineering
📣 VP of Engineering
💰 Head of Commercial
🚂 Chief of Staff
Asks
Lots of layoff news coming from every major tech company in the past few weeks. Obviously if you’re thinking of starting something I would LOVE to speak with you. But the founder path isn’t for many and that isn’t recognized enough by investors. I get a lot of energy from helping people solve career predicaments, so if you or someone you know is in that mindset (and within Europe ideally) please let me know. I would love to help if I can.
