Stuff Worth Sharing
State of AI: massive report on all things AI from investor friends Ian and Nathan. Will take a couple hours to read properly, but well worth it. My favorite slides here.
Lactose intolerance vs. Darwin: scientific theory explaining why we drink milk. As a midwestern American this is fascinating.
Defense as a service: interview with the founder of Anduril. Perhaps the most interesting business I’ve learned about this year. A multi-time relisten. (podcast)
What energy crisis?: California’s first fully independent, all renewable residential community.
Post-apocalyptic mutiny prevention: how does a billionaire manage a staff from below ground when money isn’t a thing?
Shameless Plug
Software Defined Automation (Fly portfolio) unveiled their $10M seed round led by our friends at Insight Partners. This investment came just a few months after our pre-seed round, which speaks to the explosive potential virtualizing factory PLCs. Industrial automation is by no means a sexy space, but when it works it really works. SDA is one to watch.
Also…the biggest news this week came came from Elon’s massive cuts at newly private Twitter. Poorly executed as it was, he did (in theory) follow the golden rule of layoffs - cut deep, cut once. I wrote a blog post on the topic a few months ago and with the market where it is, it may be a good thing to reshare.

I just booked flights to Japan for next year. I have been planning and postponing this trip for 5 years, so it’s very built up at this point. If you have any must sees, please LMK.
